Wakenagun CFDC is a federally incorporated not-for-profit Community Futures Development Corporation. We were known as the “Mushkegowuk Community Futures Committee” until our Incorporation in January 1995. Today, in partnership with FedNor/Industry Canada, we service seven communities along the Western James & Hudson Bay coast and three inland communities further south of James Bay. This includes Fort Severn First Nation, Peawanuck First Nation, Attawapiskat First Nation, Kashechewan First Nation, Fort Albany First Nation, the Town of Moosonee, Moose Factory(Moose Cree First Nation, MoCreebec & Local Services Board area), Taykwa Tagamou First Nation, Chapleau Cree First Nation, and Missanabie Cree First Nation. This area is the traditional home of the First Nations people who call this region “Mushkegowuk”, and we service all individuals and organizations that reside and operate within this area.

Aspinemowin Youth Entrepreneurship Partnerships Program

The AYEPP will host a series of weeklong workshops in each community that will delve into teaching the core fundamentals of business planning that includes business planning and contents, financial understanding of running a business, promotion and marketing. 2010 Youth Business Quest Program

The 2010 Youth Business Quest Program is now complete!

Wakenagun proudly hosted 7 workshops within our service delivery area with huge success. With over 115 participants in this year’s program we were pleased with the enthusiasm of the youth and the willingness to learn about the wonderful world of business! We would like to thank each host community for welcoming our staff and encouraging your youth to participate! We would also like to thank our financial supporters – Mushkegowuk Employment and Training Services and Fed Nor – Thank you as well to all who participated and we look forward to providing the program once again for 2011!
